This is the only place we will ever visit for gear. They are extremely knowledgeable and care about the customer, not the sale. They have never tried to upsell us on anything and have always been courteous and kind. Highly recommend you go here for all your ski needs!
My family and I have been shopping here for years. We are never disappointed in the service or great holiday promotions. Most recently my wife and I purchased skis, boots, bindings, and mounting during the labor day promotion. Lu was a rockstar and helped us every step of the way. It's stores like Kittredge that make small mountain towns worth shopping at. Thank you, all!
I wanted to share the experience I had with Tom Cage (owner).
I had a new pair of Blizzard Brahmas mounted here. Upon collection of the skis, I noticed that the heel piece of the bindings was off centre, about 1.5mm to the left (photos attached).
When I mentioned this to the tech shop staff, they measured and asked if I’d like to speak with a manager. I was introduced to Tom.
Tom refused to acknowledge the issue with the mount, referred to me as “anal” and said it would be impossible to notice the off centre mount while skiing. A ski mounted 1.5mm to the left of centre will tip onto edge more easily to the left than to the right, and the heel piece being more off centre than the toe results in the ski pointing in a different direction when the foot is straight. This is definitely noticeable while skiing. He ended the discussion abruptly by refusing to do anything about it.
After the busy holiday period had subsided, I returned to the store in the hopes of continuing the conversation. Tom claimed he would contact someone he knew at Marker (the brand of the bindings) for assistance.
I was later told that this person had measured the binding mount with Tom and agreed they were centred (I repeat, photos attached).
When I reiterated to Tom that this was simply not true, and tried to show Tom (with electric callipers he provided me) that the skis had been incorrectly mounted, he lost his temper and yelled in my face:
He claimed I was trying to cheat him, threw the skis down and yelled “f—k you” in my face.
Following this, I asked to take my equipment and leave the store.
In short, I’ve never experienced this level of unprofessionalism, disrespect and abusive language and behaviour in a professional setting.
I hope in sharing this, it informs people of Tom’s unacceptable and intimidating conduct, and is reason to question having gear worked on at this store.
Really disappointed by Kittredge Sports. My friend and I needed to rent waders. We called early in the morning advising that we would be coming in late that day and wanted to see if we needed to reserve. We got a definite “no”. So, we started our long drive to Mammoth and got tremendously delayed as the passes were closed. We called at 5:00 to advise we would be arriving at 6:50 and asked them to go ahead and prepare the waders. We got a “we close at 6:00, who told you we were open to 7:00”. My answer “Google Maps”. Response: “oh, we’ve been trying to get Google to change that for weeks”.
So, we found a great delivery service that dropped everything to go pick up the waders. When he shows up, Kittredge won’t release them because they need the person with the credit card to be the same person who gave the credit card”. “This is a legal document. I can’t release the waders without the credit card owners signature”. When I tried to figure out some other way, the closing manager said “it’s just not gonna happen” and then shut me down from any further discussion.
Be assured, I will NEVER step foot in Kittredge.
Lu and Brian awesome people working here! Kind and knowledgeable. Really sweet price on some hiking shoes and other gear. Def check this place out! Thanks y'all!
Amazing customer service here. The nicest, friendliest, team. Super knowledgeable and helpful with fittings. Even helped us carry equipment to our car! Will definitely be back!
Experienced and knowledgeable staff, away from the crowds at the slope-side resort rentals plus everything else you could need.
The simple things first and what everyone probably wants to know. We rented ski equipment here and it was all really good. Me, my wife and our 5 yr old daughter all had a good experience with the equipment.
Now what really caught us off guard. Everyone there is so incredibly nice... Beyond nice. From the boot fitting, skis and pools and the fitting. They were all so nice, helpful and efficient. We also had to get some extra stuff and they were all so knowledgeable and helpful.... And once again so incredibly nice and friendly.
I totally recommend this place and we are definitely going back. No where else. Thank you Kittredge sports for taking such good care of us and for your kindness especially to our little one.
Excellent selection of seasonal equipment. The jerky they had there was a treat for the day, too.
Awesome place and people! None of our bags made it on our flight to Mammoth so my family was in dire need of get fully outfitted for ALL ski gear. The team at Kittredge was extremely patient, polite, kind and professional! We walked out of here with everything including boots, jackets, pants, goggles, hats, and rental equipment. A++ service. Glad we came to the the right place. Highly recommend for any of your snow gear needs and they’ll take great care of you!
